Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity and Booking in Prague

Online travel agents (OTA) like Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity and Booking.com are playing very essential role on Prague travel market. It does not matter whether you are running hotel, bed and breakfast or apartment in Prague. Most of Prague accommodation providers are partly dependent on OTAs. The advantage of having a listing on OTA site is more bookings when it is done right way; however, on the other hand there is need to pay provision which can be somewhere between 15-30% from final price.

Expedia Prague

Currently there is about 500 listings on Expedia when you search Prague and only around 30 listed Prague apartments rentals. The search traffic share is 25% and in other words Expedia is leading the way with regards to search traffic share in OTAs.

Orbitz Prague

Orbitz is the third largest online travel agent with regards to search traffic share. There are around 300 listing in Prague. Furthermore, there is no way in selection bed and breakfast or apartments in Prague.

Travelocity Prague

Travelocity is the second largest online travel agent with regards to search traffic share (around 20%). Again there are around 300 listing, the most are Prague hotels and up to 10 apartment listing in Prague.

Booking Prague

Booking popularity has recently increased a lot. There is around 400 of listings in Prague and up to 30 listings among Prague apartments rentals.

Other OTAs

Other online travel agent are Priceline, Hotels.com, Cheaptickets and Hotwire where the search traffic share is between 5-15%.

Finally, it should be stated that the market and seach power of OTA is enormous and some of accommodation providers are heavily based on bookings from OTAs. This case is valid for Prague as well as for the rest of the world.
